Weekly MCOM Update

Hi all!
This is your Music Council of Majors President, writing to inform you of the new and exciting happenings pertaining to MCOM. I will be writing these updates once a week to let you know what is going on with MCOM, so that even if you are unable to attend the meetings you can still know what is going on.
We are working on a few projects that I will outline here. First, we are planning to fix up the bulletin boards on the ground floor of Fine Arts and outside the Recital Hall. In a couple of weeks MCOM will be hosting an event open to anyone to put up all the new material. If you are interested in helping to design the bulletin boards, please e-mail Yoshi Horiguchi at hyoshi1@umbc.edu.
Also, we are receiving funding from the SGA for T-shirts for the members of MCOM. Julian (the designer of this website) has created a design and will be placing the order soon. We will also be creating an order form for music majors for UMBC Music Department t-shirts.
Finally, in order to fulfill its goal of serving as a liaison between the UMBC music community and the UMBC Music Department, the Music Council of Majors will be setting out a "Suggestion Box" every Wednesday at forum. Suggestions can be related to subjects specific to MCOM or to the music department in general. Each suggestion will be discussed during MCOM meetings and will be dealt with appropriately. The person writing the suggestion (student or faculty) can choose to remain anonymous or provide contact information. Hopefully, this will be a useful tool in providing a means for communication and for the improvement of our music department and student life. (in case you were wondering, this is a direct quote from the e-mail I am sending out to the music department :-) Special thanks to Eva (Marie) Thorp and Stephen O'Connor for making this possible!
Tons of thanks to everyone who is helping out with Music Council of Majors. We're making great progress and I can't wait to see what else we'll be able to accomplish!
Your President,
Ellen Green
